A GREAT HOLIDAY VENUE
Somers is one of the most scenic towns along the Mornington Peninsula, a great spot for for Hobie sailing, or for the non sailors in the family just to relax and enjoy the good life.
Somers is a holiday town on the bluffs overlooking the Western Passage to Western Port. Somers Beach is 3 km long, running between the eastern bluffs and rocks and the mouth of Merricks Creek. A foreshore reserve backs the entire beach. The beach faces south into the Western Passage of Western Port and receives mainly low, choppy wind waves and only rare ocean swell.
For many, having a laid-back coastal beach holiday in Somers is the perfect way to let loose and explore the wilder side of the Western Port Bay.
FINDING SOMERS
Flying in
For the rock stars sailing in the 2017 Hobie Nationals, you have a choice of airports, with Melbourne Airport (also known as Tullamarine Airport), at around 90 minutes drive being the closest. All domestic airlines fly in and out of Melbourne, and most internationals have daily flights into Melbourne.
Avalon Airport, at close to 2 hrs is a little further away is a domestic terminal for the budget airline Jetstar, and has fewer flight options.
